(Design of steel structures in Industrial buildings ) है।

साथ में हम, Bill of materials, bolt list, CNC files (computer numerically controlled files), 3D models वगैरह भी supply करते थे।

GV and his team Feb 2009

  26. Thanks to all who have sent comments and good wishes for my continued success.
I was out of station for three days and read the comments only today.
I am still not out of the woods.
    The recession continues.
If this ends soon, I can bounce back.
If it continues indefinitely, even the new owners will not be able to sustain us for ever.

The time will then come for forced retirement. Considering my age, it may not be such a tragedy. But for the youngsters, it is a different story.

In retrospect, the cause of the probblem is over-dependence on only one source of income. There is wisdom in the saying "You should not put all your eggs in one basket"

I will keep all of you posted with future developments.
Thanks once again for your responses and to Gyanjee for his kind courtesy in hosting this blog post.

  27. What is Recession?

This story is about a man who once upon a time was selling Hotdogs by the roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers. He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were weak, so he never watched television. But enthusiastically, he sold lots of hotdogs.

He was smart enough to offer some attractive schemes to increase his sales. His sales and profit went up. He ordered more a more raw material and buns and sold more. He recruited more supporting staff to serve more customers. He started offering home deliveries. Eventually he got himself a bigger and better stove. As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from college, joined his father.

    Then something strange happened.

The son asked, "Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The father replied, "No, but tell me about it." The son said, "The international situation is terrible. The domestic situation is even worse. We should be prepared for the coming bad times."

The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers, listened to the radio and watched TV. He ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly. So the next day onwards, the father cut down the his raw material order and buns, took down the colorful signboard, removed all the special schemes he was offering to the customers and was no longer as enthusiastic. He reduced his staff strength by giving layoffs. Very soon, fewer and fewer people bothered to stop at his Hotdog stand. And his sales started coming down rapidly and so did the profit. The father said to his son, "Son, you were right". "We are in the middle of a recession and crisis. I am glad you warned me ahead of time."

Moral of the Story: It's all in your MIND! And we actually FUEL this recession much more than we think.

    Amusing story!
    I wish this were true.
One has to be actually affected by the recession to undersand it fully.

    Here is an update.
We were halfway through a job.
Our Client (A Fabricator) suddenly asks us to stop even though we have a firm order from him to proceed.
He had given us the written order based on an oral order from the General contractor, whom he trusted and knew.
    Reason for stopping our work?
His General contractor was pursuaded by another Fabricator to take back the contract from our fabricator and award it to the second fabricator.
All for a 10 percent reduction in the price.
We are now negotiating with the new awardee and he is playing hard to get!
No problem, if this business fails, I too will consider selling hot dogs.
If hot dogs don't sell, I can switch to Idlies/vadas/dosas
I can also add samosas later to the menu.
This is one business that will never fail as long as we humans have an appetite.

    Thanks for responding.

It was autumn, and the Red Indians asked their New Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Red Indian chief in a modern society, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his Tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared.

But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?'
'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed,' the weather man Responded.

So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood.. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Is it going to be a very cold winter?'
'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'It's definitely going to be a very cold winter.'

The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find. Two weeks later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?'
'Absolutely,' The Man replied. 'It's going to be one of the coldest winters ever.'

'How can you be so sure?' the Chief asked.
The weatherman replied, 'The Red Indians are collecting wood like Crazy.'

This is how Stock Markets work!!!

Why we have recession ...? How companies got bankrupt?

Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Berlin .

In order to increase sales, she decides to allow her loyal customers - most of whom are unemployed alcoholics - to drink now but pay later.

She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans).

Word gets around and as a result increasing numbers of customers flood into Heidi's bar. Taking advantage of her customers' freedom from immediate payment constraints, Heidi increases her prices for wine and beer, the most-consumed beverages.

    Her sales volume increases massively.

A young and dynamic customer service consultant at the local bank recognizes these customer debts as valuable future assets and
increases Heidi's borrowing limit. He sees no reason for undue concern since he has the debts of the alcoholics as collateral.

At the bank's corporate headquarters, expert bankers transform these customer assets into DRINKBONDS, ALKBONDS and PUKEBONDS.

These securities are then traded on markets worldwide. No one really understands what these abbreviations mean and how the
securities are guaranteed. Nevertheless, as their prices continuously climb, the securities become top-selling items.

One day, although the prices are still climbing, a risk manager (subsequently of course fired due his negativity) of the bank decides
that slowly the time has come to demand payment of the debts incurred by the drinkers at Heidi's bar.

However they cannot pay back the debts. Heidi cannot fulfil her loan obligations and claims bankruptcy.

DRINKBOND and ALKBOND drop in price by 95 %. PUKEBOND performs better, stabilizing in price after dropping by 80 %.
The suppliers of Heidi's bar, having granted her generous payment due dates and having invested in the securities are faced with a new
    situation.
Her wine supplier claims bankruptcy, her beer supplier is taken over by a competitor. The bank is saved by the Government following
dramatic round-the-clock consultations by leaders from the governing political parties.

The funds required for this purpose are obtained by a tax levied on the non-drinkers.

    Finally an explanation I understand..

    Cheers!!!

  32. Brilliant and most entertaining!
Now even I am able to understand!
    Thanks for sharing.

By the way, here is an update on my situation.
The new Fabricator has awarded the job back to us.
Even after hard bargaining, we are going to get only 2/3 of the price at which we were awarded the job by the first fabricator.
The first fabricator is claiming that it is impossible for the second fabricator to do the job at the new reduced price as his (first fabricator's) price was already rock bottom price.

    We have no choice now.
Let us at least get back office running expenses.

    Cheers!!!
